I was amazed at the reaction to the known fact of how many black males graduate from anything in the Youngstown area. As a product of the school system of Youngstown, it seem to be standard procedure and protocol. THe way of life standardize in the black community dictated by the white community spell the % of black males allowed to graduate from kidergarden. When I saw it made so called news headlines, I quess Youngstown did not have anything called news for the day.From the work disipitation to the segregation trickling down to the mafia, (White), allowed areas of living, (Liberty, Boardman, Austintown and of course Fosterville. I only going to speak about what I know and no speculation compounded with assumption. THe black male was than the Mexican of Youngstown,now everybody counts. To wander into the Youngstown College as a Black person was un-heard of unless you were willing to wear the Uncle Tom coat and pass the pre-selected board. You think the mothers of DARE, PTA and so on is dangerous. Thier history was fascinating towards this subject if it's told in truth. As I recall the serlf memorial of raising up in Youngatown, Ohio from Lincoln to Princeton, from South to East, the Mcguffey Hieghts (snmile) Sharon Line verses Rayen, Mooney and etc, the 60% is a understatment and intentional. I would like to thank who ever for allowing me to take a walk on the, "Wild Side", for a momment.

I am just glad that someone is taking a look at this. Hopefully a solution can be had so more people don't suffer from a lack of education in the future.

`Here is a novel idea: the one's that do not graduate can hone their skills of weaponry. That is to the breaking down & reassembling their weapons in milatary boot camp in the armed services. If they are destined to become weaponry literate & killing their fellow man, deploy them to the middle east to put their talents to productive use. This will also get them off the streets of Y- town, provide a JOB (shocking) and make them responsible for all of their "sperm donations"!40% is what the Armed Forces are looking for!!

Teachers cannot make up for poverty. Kindergartners come to school not knowing their letters, numbers, colors. They generally are two full years behind before they enter a school door. The rest of the elementary years are spent playing catch-up. It is a difficult task for urban teachers. Consider the fact that they are then socially promoted each grade, and one can grasp the significance when students are sophomores, and they are two years behind. The OGT's are hard to pass if a student is functioning at an 8th grade level.

You appear to be an intelligent and educated person.

Now that there is ample proof that the politically correct policy of social promotion is not only not helpful, but truly harmful to the child, why do school systems (urban or otherwise) cling to this flawed policy? In your opinion.

face it, they just aren't willing to learn anything. remember the story about the teacher being fired because of her black classroom's constant racial slurs? then their school system defended the students saying its their "culture". so your culture is to act like animals in school, drop out, have 10 kids, collect welfare, murder and pillage? wow, we just misunderstood this entire time.

You realize that while you whites are gloating, more that 1/4 of your kids are failing as well. You proud of that? Some of you folks are pathetic. Also, Mr./Ms. Another thought, I can't speak for others but my wife and I put a tremendous amount of effort into our kids' education. Our graduating child is an honor student and will be attending a good private college, not on an athletic scholarship. We are very proud of his hard work. Although it is not our style to be boisterous, should I be overcome with pride when he walks across that stage I might scream like Roger Daltrey, Billy Idol, Prince, Sammy Hagar or even, dare I say it, Little Richard. And if you don't like it, chuck you, Farley. You ain't the boss of me.
