It will get even more affordable as Ytowns savages move in and more and more jobs leave the area.

If the area economy was doing well, Boardman's homes would sell for at least 50% higher than they now sell for. The area's housing will always be lower than the rest of the country as long as jobs are scarce and the young flee in droves. Next year Boardman should move up in this study as home prices will drop further.

The story has 2 misconceptions. First saying Boardman is a farming community and second insinuating the economy is good because housing costs are low. The truth is exactly as the prior poster suggest, that low housing costs are a direct result of limited good paying jobs (except public employees) and the exodus of the populace. It's a prime example of the law of supply and demand. High supply and low demand will always keep prices subdued.

AS drugs grow the lower house prices go.
Boardman has become Youngstown . Drugs , crime and low house prices
And they think this is a good thing that you can not sell your home for what it cost to build.

I think the figures are wrong on the income - can someone verify?

According to most sites searched on the internet, the median household income is not over 61K as stated in the article. This site says $49,600 but that is from the 2000 census. Most sites quote middle 50's for median household income for Boardman. They are closer to the truth. The article quoted also states Boardman is a farming community. That's an absolute falsehood.

This one is way off the median household income.

I think that you can safely say the median is close to 55K. Unless you work for the township!

What? Not the most affordable place on the planet? I thought people lived here because it was so cheap - yet there are cheaper places to live? Why not move there?

Boardman is a cesspool.

Full of drug addicts and pill heads. Who would want to live there?
