The responses by the anti gun group is so typical its sad. Yes most elected official pay more attention to the NRA then the Brady Bunch. They do it because the majority of voters support the NRA postion rather then the protect the criminal BB.

I was a cop years ago. We were taught in the accadamy what to do if we were stopped off duty. Roll down the window, put wallet on dash board and both hands on the wheel as soon as the officer comes up tell him you are carrying a gun and why. Follow his instructions on what to do next.

Hey, I grew up in L.A., and when learing to drive was told by my Dad (in the early 1970's), that if the LAPD pulled me over, I was to: pull out my license, roll down my window (so that I didn't, later, have to reach anywhere the officer couldn't see), put my keys on the dash and grip the wheel. You see, at that time, the LAPD pretty much beat the @#$%& out of anyone they wanted to and had several publicized shootings of folks later found to be unarmed.
I've followed my Dad's advice since, anytime I'm stopped. Therefore, now that I have a CCW license, I'm all set! Cops need to assume EVERY driver is armed, as health care workers assume everyone has HIV, in terms of precautions taken. This current law in Ohio has got several issues that need to be revised. Hope they pass!

I was taught in my CCW class thatthe gun has to be ON YOUR PERSON in plain sight or locked up. In whose plain sight is not defined. On the seat or dash in plain sight is not leagal. The law needs to be cleaned up. Moreover, there should be some standard among CCW states to encourage reciprocity. Also if you are the registered owner of the stopped car, the officer knows you have a permit.

The law needs to be tweeked. If I have my firearm locked in a box on the seat and then must unlock it and pull it out and then conceal...what do I do about the person in the car next to me who sees me do this? You know they are going to think the worse...possibly call police and cause a major scene.
I don't understand why, after a CCW holder has been checked out so many different ways that we are not trusted. Our names put out in public while criminals can have their names taken off the records so people won't know their past. Don't we have at least the same rights they do?
