I'm glad to see them get out and disavow violence, but much of their presentation is da'wa (evangelism). First off, islam does not see itself as a "continuation" of Judaism and Christianity, but a wholesale replacement thereof, which may be found in the Quran (Q 5: 17, Q 9: 29, 30). Iqbal says islam does not oppress women, but how does he explain Q 4: 34, which says that a rebellious woman should be beaten or "scourged"? How about Q 2: 282 which again rates a woman's legal worth as half a man's? Or the requirement of four witnesses to prove rape?
And to say that islam does not preach violence is nonsensical: Q 8:12, Q 9:5, Q 9:29, Q 47:4, Q 2:190-193, Q 8:60, and so forth. The Quran has not changed? Absurd. A German team dug up Qurans last year (the Quran, considered to carry the literal word of God, may not be simply thrown away in islam) and found marked alterations between the modern Quran and the specimens from before the Third Caliph, who - curiously enough - gathered all copies of the Quran in existence at that time and had them all destroyed, then emitted his own version. Meanwhile, ancient versions of the NT are almost exactly identical to the modern forms.
If there is going to be honest discussion of the issues, then let it be so - with frank statements about what the Quran contains and what that means for non-muslims(called "kuffar" or "kufr", and explicitly commanded to either convert, submit or die in the Quran (Q 9: 29)); next would be for the likes of Iqbal to refute the Quran on these matters, much as liberal Christians refute the Bible on stoning homosexuals to death.
I recommend the readers visit www.jihadwatch.org. There is much to know if the truth is really being sought.
