It has nothing to do with the health, safety, or welfare of the citizens but like what was said - a business decision based upon what is needed. Instead of fighting this decision, the best solution would be for the city to work with the post office on this situation to see what else can be done. Maybe some business in the community would agree to be a contract station. That seems to be the best solution for this. It is much better than the bickering that appears to be going on now.

The South Side Post Office has a very poor location on an unsafe side street, Hylda Avenue. Relocate it to Market Street and it will do well. The U. S. Postal Service owes Youngstown an new facility.

I really don't want to be someone who defends youngstown, but I have been there many times over the last 7 years and I have not had any problems. Maybe the occasional wait due to only one person working the counter but no problems from the local wildlife. I used to sell lots of stuff on Ebay and I was constantly taking things there.
I am not into the EBAY so much any more and I don't work on the South Side anymore either. So if it closes there are many others to go to.
So... Whatever. Why did I even post?

get rid of the ignorant employees and maybe more people will use the post office. you would think in an area of the u.s. where there are very few good jobs, they would have a better attitude. that's why i no longer go there.

I agree. I use UPS, fax, automatic bill pay, direct deposit, or online bill pay to do most of my business. It took a lot of getting used to, but now I'm glad I weaned my self off the Post Office. Nothing good ever comes out of a monopoly.

UPS ships most packages cheaper than USPS and much quicker. The folks are much friendlier and MUCH more professional. Haven't used FedEx much to send things, but I'm glad there are alternatives to the post office.
