Who not examine the years of Pro-US (more like pro Corporate) "Dictators" that the US funded that built up the "critical mass" that has lead to this tide of "Populist Despots".

I think many of Bush's "Handlers"(CEO's) are afraid that these "Populists" threaten their labor supply and that their ideas might spread North.

Camp Hill Penguin is correct. We support dictators when they benefit the U.S. or even better U.S. corporations. Then when they defy the U.S. like Chavez, they suddenly become evil dictators. Pervez Musharraf is a prime example as was Saddam Hussein. Our foreign policy is pathetic and inconsistent.

actually our foreign policy has been consistent. it's always been realist and short sighted in nature. that's part of the reason why we have some of the problems we have today.
