Mr. Kovac's story is interesting, and with the exception of the the first sentences, it all happened. I don't believe Mr. Kovac was present for the hearing and wrote from written copies of testimony he obtained by way of Ohio Senate staffers. What's worse is the opening sentences are a complete fabrication. I was present at the hearing, so were several witnesses to testify, as well as several members of the Ohio Senate Criminal Justice Committee. I'm sure they would be shocked to see what was printed, for they never heard Ms. Wickham say these words, either. I'm not sure whether it was to inflame readers, or whether it was some other bias, but she never once said she would shoot an intruder on sight. Nor did she imply it. And now his interesting "interpretation" of her written testimony could jeopardize her in the courts if she ever, God forbid, had to discharge a firearm to save her life in the event of a home break-in. His fabricated words, now forever put into her mouth (so to speak) could be used by a prosecutor to suggest that she wanted to do what Mr. Kovac wrote in his piece, which appeared in a number of Dix newspapers this week. Nice going Mr. Kovac. When are you going to retract and correct the record? Does anyone at Dix Communications still know the meaning of "error of fact?" Do the editors care?
