Yes, he did, and I really enjoyed listening to them sing tonight. I do hope his team wins. They all show such class that pride in what they are doing. The songs are done with respect and I think their charity is the most deserving of all of them.
I love all kinds of music but I am truly disgusted watching this show and having to listen to Patti LaBelle and her choir BUTCHER every song they sing. They all have such beautiful, glorious, god-given talent but they take every song they sing so far over the top that you forget what great voices they really have.
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" was so distorted and crucified last night that I had to mute my tv halfway through it. Come on now and keep your shoes on for heaven's sake. She showed no respect for a song that has been a classic for years. I sat there and thought what nice voices they all had and how wonderful it would have sounded if they had just done it jusice. The original is perfect, why screw it up.
I also don't think she shows much respect for the other choirs either. The last 5 or 6 times she was asked for a comment after a performance she didn't even come close to paying them a compliment about how well they did. All she had to say was she liked that kind of music or liked the song they sang or liked the artist that wrote or performed. Not once did she praise them for the talent they displayed.
I do think that they have decided that she has won already and I say "SHE" because every time her group sings it's more about Patti than the choir. AND her charity is a selfish choice on her part too. Cancer is an issue but she chose it because of HER relatives dying from it.
Sorry...I just feel she has turned the show into the "massage Patti Labelle's ego" rather than a true competition between some fantastic performers!
