I listened to the Bishop's testimony and his answers to questions from members of the Judiciary Committee. I still feel that there is no GOOD reason to deny victims of sexual abuse the right to seek redress, even for actions which occurred up to 35 years ago.

The Bishop repeated two phrases over and over: "due process" and "civil registry."
I don't think anyone intends to deny victims or perpetrators of due process. If a civil registry is such a good idea, why hasn't the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops established one. When questioned on this point, the Bishop's answer was less than satisfying.
