Herb Washington is a horrible business owner, whether it be McDonalds or the Steelhounds. Global is no better, and both of them are giving the Chevrolet Centre/YCC a bad name.
Why do the Steelhounds have priority sports rights? Because the CHL, which the Steelhounds are part of, is owned by Global.
Youngstown should have never hired Global for the YCC/Chevrolet Centre project, and the area is being denied an arena football franchise, as well as concerts and stand-up comedians that Belkin won't provide this area.
Global is very close-minded when it comes to providing this area with solid entertainment that the community wants to see.
Youngstown's closest rival in the CHL is Memphis TN, yet more solid leagues, like the ECHL would have great rivalries with teams in Wheeling, WV and Toledo OH.
I hope the new Youngstown Mayor finds a better management company for the new center, because it could be doing alot better than it is, especially that it's a new building.
If the acts won't come when the building is new, don't expect them to come years down the road when the building is in disrepair.

Frankly, I think that we should start a boycott of all the local Mcdonald's - until and unless Mr. Washington relents and grants permission for the Phantoms to host the juniors.

One has to wonder about the real reason that Mr. Washington doesn't want to relinquish the ice - maybe he's worried that the junior players will demonstrate how hockey is supposed to be played - His Steelhounds are a poor excuse for a hockey team.

Washington won't let the Phantoms play for one reason only personality conflict.
He is a terrible businessman and the investigation by the Department of Labor proves it. He is being investigated because of his poor treatment of employees. Can you believe that? Those poor people who work from dark to dark for him for the smallest pay on the scale and he rips them off! He and his wife are pathetic.

I think that Mr. Washington does a disservice to the city, the Valley and it's people, besides he shows arrogance and poor business intellect. So what he's really saying is " screw you and the people of the Valley, it's either may way or the highway" that's real businesslike.

I don't know much about the Steelhounds, but I know how he treats his employees at McDonald's. I have adult children who work at a local McDonald's for him who get minimum wage with no raise for over a year!! They worked at a different McDonald's for several years, for a different owner and made $7.00 hour. They were given $.25 raises previously. When we moved here, they wanted to continue with McDonalds. They used to enjoy their work, but now dread it every day. They were told they would get regular raises but later found out it would only be a nickel every 6 months. YIPPEE!! But of course that never transpired. To be a shift manager, they promised $6.75 hour. No thanks. Not for the responsibility of management. I don't care if he was a baseball personality at one time. He and his wife treat the employees like dirt when he comes into the stores. He will not even acknowledge his crew members even with a hello. Only managers. NO common courtesy. I have a friend who was an NBA player and is an ABA player currently but he would NEVER treat anybody the way Mr. Washington does. Mr. Washington needs a reality check! Maybe he should work one day in one of his stores and see what these people put up with.
Sorry to ramble on, He really gets on my last nerve!

I am one of Mr. Washington's employees at McDonalds and I can speak from experience that he is a terrible employer. He doesn't know how to run a business and his managers aren't much better. They do everything backwards. Maybe since he is willing to update the interior of his restaurants, which by the way don't remind you of kids anymore more like a high tech coffee house, maybe he should update his time keeping technology. He treats us like dirt. The employee turn over rate is so high. The ones that stay are not out of loyalty, but only for availabilty convenience.

The Steelhounds have OFFICIALLY been eliminated from the playoffs. So, their is now NO possibility of a scheduling conflict between the CHL Playoffs and NAHL Tournament.

So, if the REAL reason for the NAHL Tournament not being allowed to use the Cherolet Centre is the negative message it would send to the Steelhounds and their fans, the Steelhounds TEAM has already taken care of that.

But, since this is realy a clash of ego's between Zoldon and Washington, do not expect the Chevrolet Centre to be hosting the NAHL Tournament.

Guess it doesn't make any difference what kind of businessman Mr. Washington is - here is the recent press release headline from Global Entertainment:

Global Entertainment Corporation Reports Net Income Increased
115.8% for Six-Months and 88.0% for Second Quarter Fiscal 2006
Diluted EPS for the Six-Months Increased 200.0% and 66.7%
for the Second Quarter Fiscal 2006
NEWS RELEASE

Global is making money hand over fist, while Youngstown struggles to pay for this monstrous facility that I'm told is already crumbling in places........I doubt that Global cares at all so long as they're raking in the cash....
