What happens when a vendictive neighbor reports that you have a vicious dog when you do not? Your dog is a gentle giant who would not hurt anyone. Are we to be afraid to walk our dogs or to be in unfriendly relationships with our neighbors? I walk my dog on a leash and have had kids come up to us with sticks to hit me and to hit my dog. Yet, my dog just backs away from these kids and now we can not take our walks that we both enjoy. The police will do nothing. Who is gonna protect us? Also about the dogs that do run loose or are walked without leashes and come into my yard. I cannot put my dog out in his own yard on his lead without fear of these loose dogs attacking him. I have worked hard to make my dog a loving gentle creature and I fear that this law will make it easy for someone with a grude or someone who is just hateful to take my gentle giant away from me. This law is way too vague. My friend had a neighbor who was bitten by a stray dog yet reported that she was bitten by my friend's dog. After all the abuse her dog had taken at the shelter and in her neighborhood as a result of the false acqusation my friend lost her companion. Who will oversee this law that it is not abusive to the rest of us who have wonderful companions? You only hear about the abused dogs who end up vicious. Who is gonna watch out for the rest of us????????
