Boardman (I believe 70 or 71) had an amazing team all five starters. Two more from Ursuline Mike Banks and Benny Allison.

I have to disagree about "good" not great.

Ronnie Allen is one of 5 brothers that were all state players in wampum. All five were the section 20 MVP in Western Pa. All five are members of the Lawerence county hall of fame all 5 coached by the legendary L. Butler Hennon. All five 1000 plus point scorers at a time when freshmen were not eligible to play varsity basketball.
3 out of the 5 went on to play major league baseball.
Coy Craine Allen first to top 1000 points in a career in his region
Cesar Craine Rebounding phenom Section MVP
Harold Allen All state 1958 1200 career points
Richie Allen All state 1958 59 60 1900 plus career points member of the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Fame 1964 Rookie of the Year 1972 AL MVP 7 time All Star
Ronnie Allen 1100 plus career points All state 1960 1961 YSU Hall of Fame Reading Phillies Hall of fame 1001 career points at YSU in 3 seasons.
One of the Career leading Rebounders in YSU History behind Herb Lake Sr. Part of some of the Rare 20 win seasons at YSU and a local legend who is highly regarded by his classmates teamates friends family and neighbors.
Qualifies him for being much more than just "good"

Anyone happen to remember Jim Goske `91? If he wouldn't start on this team, the coach would be an idiot not have him be 6th man.
Also, you have to include the Driver kid from Detroit. He played great until it was proven that he actually had been recruited.
Goske either is on this team or it's a waste of everyone's time.

I never played hoops in school, but talent is obvious to any observer. Names like Cochran and Timko belong on here far more than they've been mentioned. Same goes for Mark Metzka.
Props though to UNIQUE who first mentioned Tillman Bevely. However, it's hard for to believe that anyone can refer to his years at Campbell without mentioning Benny Russell in the same sentence. No idea what became of Benny though. Maybe back to the Bahamas?
Three final guys no has mentioned yet: Steve Leslie, Bo Pelini and Vince Marrow from Mooney.

Randy Ballard played at Mooney Vince Marrow YSU before he went to Toledo as a TE and found his way to the NFL. I believe Marrow was a HS All American at Mooney but I could be wrong.

Ya hit it on the head . Ive read all 8 pages of this post and I know or have played with and against many names mentioned. We just dont play very good ball here in the valley. There are a few exceptions, but how many have gone on to play pro. Cant think of many, maybe Jack Marin 45 years ago. Just look at current boys and girls state OHSAA rankings. Does anyone think the valley is well represented. B-ball is a joke around here. The St. Henry girls team has more state titles than the whole MV combined. And a school 50 miles away (Canton Mckinley) has more pro alumni pro ballers than the whole of MV combined. Zarlingo was good, but hell, he ended up a punter at Indiana under Corso. Never played even a play for Knight or anywhere else after Lowellville. And as well, the same argument can be made for any other sport as well. Who has made it in in our beloved hotbed of football or even baseball from MV. Not many
